Hey new followers!
In addition to writing, I also reblog art and great writing/drawing tips.
This tutorial is incredible if you are a character designer looking to diversify your female characters. Adding weight to a character is not as simple as drawing a simple body and curving the lines; you have to know the body structure to get it right.
I tried the second character from the left “Gwen” and was shocked at how close my sketch came to this tutorial.
A helpful guide for comic artists, character designers, and cosplayers alike.
These are cute.
yes yes yes good reference! also remember that people can have fat on their face, even under their chin (gasp!) and giving your chubbier characters a look other than the sharp, chiseled jawline goes a long way towards fat realism~
also, everything goes squish!
i ought to do a bunch of reference pictures for how fat behaves on a body. there are plenty of skinny references out there, but not so many fatter ones, i think.
Please do. I don’t draw, but I was looking at this tutorial, and even though there’s lots of weight in the stomach-hips area, they all have really skinny arms, even the one on the far left who doesn’t work out as much and SHOULD have fat arms. That affects how you hold your arms and how you move, and how clothing sits, too.
Reblog for my artsy drawing friends. The commentary is helpful, too. :)
